River rafting

In Coorg  there  will be river rafting for visitors/tourists in the river barapole. Whitewater rafting is organized at the upper Barapole area called Kithu-Kakkatu River before it enters the Brahamagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats.

There will be training and briefings on the do and don’ts, safety instructions and paddle techniques then you hit the water. You’ll be wearing life jacket and helmet while in the water. The most favorable season is post monsoon , Best time for Rafting – Monsoon Season June 15th to October 16th.

The river rafting is about 210km away from Bangalore, 85km from Mysore, 50km from Madikeri,  160km from Mangalore and 50km from Kushalnagar.

Jeep safari

Jeep Safari is one of the best ways to explore the rich flora and fauna of Nagarahole wild life sanctuary.

The best time for the safari is from the month of October until June. The weather during these months is clear, thus increasing the chances of getting the glimpses of the animals. The Jeep safari is an Open Jeep Safari and it lasts usually for 2.5 hrs to 3 hours and the timings are always from 6.30 am to 9/9.30 am (the morning safari) and 3.30pm to 6pm (the evening safari).

Elephant bathing

Dubare is known for its elephant camp, a forest camp on the banks of the river Kaveri in the district of Kodagu, Karnataka. It is an important base for the Karnataka Forest Department’s elephants.

By crossing the river Cauvery through coracle ride you can see the Dubare elephant training camp, where the elephant’s grooming, feeding, elephant ride will take place. The visitor/tourists can also participate in various activities like washing, scrubbing & feeding to the elephants.

Omkareshwara Temple is a beautiful temple built in the Indo-Sarcenic style in Coorg. Dubare is mainly an elephant-capturing and training camp of the Forest Department at the edge of Dubare forest; on the bank of the river Kaveri along the Kushalnagar – Siddapura road. Nagarahole is a national park and wildlife resort. Nisargadhama is a man-made island and picnic spot near Kushalnagar, formed by the river Kaveri.

Abbey Falls is a scenic waterfall 5 km from Madikeri. Mallalli falls is 25 km from Somwarpet, downhill of the Pushpagiri hills. Mandalapatti is 28 km from Madikeri. On the way to Abbey Falls, before 3 km from Abbey Falls take right, from their 25 km.
